This chapter is a summary of the  2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Science.

In very brief summary, the AHA is increasing official recognition of providing early, high quality CPR (fast and hard), as well as early defibrillation.  Any delays in compressions should be minimal.

This is similar in ACLS where as long as an airway can be maintained by mask/bag, an artificial airway is of secondary importance (it interrupts compressions).
